BauBerufe on Tour BW

The construction industry is still considered to be a rather male domain, although in the meantime a significantly increased proportion of the workforce has female employees. To present the training and career opportunities in the construction industry, a Bau-dein Ding event is held every year at the Stetten school centre. Subject teacher Jessica Zwick organises the diverse career orientation offers and has brought an interactive lecture by speaker Maximilian Plank to the school for learning groups 8 this week.

Maximilian Planck explains the simulation game to the learning partners

Plank first provided information about typical construction professions, dual training and earning opportunities, before the learning partners could get to work themselves. Using a tablet, they were allowed to dial into a virtual construction site, which allowed them to successively build a house by correctly answering quiz questions about the individual construction activities. Afterwards, the winning team was able to celebrate at the award ceremony.

Realistic perspective: the virtual construction site

"It is important to make construction attractive for young people because it is a future-oriented industry," Plank emphasises. "And skilled workers are still in demand."

To facilitate the initial contact, the learning partners received a giveaway as well as addresses and contacts for starting a career.
