Drug prevention at the Stetten school centre

Drug prevention is a firmly anchored component in the school curriculum of the GMS of the Stetten School Centre. Every year, speakers from the police, school social work and cooperation partners in social institutions inform the growing generation about risks, dangers and problems in the wake of addiction. Very few young people are aware that ingredients that can be bought in supermarkets are already legal drugs. Therefore, the lecture series always pays special attention to showing ways out of addiction and providing strategies to escape the downward spiral. The learning partners are encouraged to seek help from the appropriate agencies and are given contact details of people to talk to in case of emergency.

Kornelia Piatek, Katjana Buhl and Kim Kohlhepp from learning group 8.1 summarised the information event on Tuesday this week in a report:

Stetten am kalten Markt. Visit from the Sigmaringen police: The learning groups were informed about the dangers of drugs and violence. It was taught that one should never go beyond one's limits when taking drugs. For this purpose, the learning partners dealt with different drugs that are both legal and illegal.
What was astonishing was the realisation that even in the everyday life of young people there are legal drugs, such as caffeine.
